We are working in a number of areas across the South East in relation to land promotion opportunities and keenly reviewing the individual council’s responses to our national need for more housing.
You may also have seen information about the significant changes being proposed by the Government in their latest White Paper. These proposals seek to increase the supply of housing, and will require Local Authorities to add to the land already allocated for development in their Local Plans. They also seek to make the decision process more streamlined.
Within the Maidstone Borough Council area this is likely to lead to an overall increase in new housing requirements. In 2016 there was a target of 1186 dwellings per annum. Government interim proposals could raise this as high as 1569 dwellings per annum.
